Laser Comb

Recently there has been some hype over re-growing hair with laser therapy.  For the most part companies have been selling laser combs for hundreds of dollars. Many of the laser therapy systems are shrouded with secrecy on how they actually work. Why would someone pay hundreds of dollars for something that they know nothing about?  I for one though this was an outrages price to pay for a device so simple in operation. I spent many months researching the physical properties of laser combs that are being sold. I found three main properties shared by most manufactures.

For the most part most laser therapy systems range from 5mw to 100mw. I found that the 100 mw system could be dangerous without proper eye ware. I opted for the safer 5mw version with a total of eight laser diodes in the 650nm wavelength. My prototype design is as follows

My custom system:

I designed my system to be most effective by using 8 lasers closely spaced effectively spreading the laser light in a uniform patter. I chose a high tooth wide spaced comb to help move the hair of the scalp away without causing stress on the hair follicles. At 650nm the wavelength is in the peak response of the scalp to re-grow hair. I chose a pulsing system for its potential benefits over a continuous wave laser system as mentioned in many articles during my research.

More information to follow on how well this prototype comb works as I have only been using it for a few weeks as of now.
